Walking & Cycling
- Always let someone know where you are going, or to expect your arrival
- Wear sensible footwear that is easy to walk or run in
- Keep to well lit roads and areas, avoid alleys, sub-ways & shortcuts
- Walk facing the traffic, and on the street side of the pavement
- Do not wear a personal stereo - it reduces your awareness
- In conversation with strangers - don't give away personal information
- Avoid crowds or people which may feel threatening
- Be wary of stationery vehicles with engines running and people sitting in them
- Ensure your cycle is in good working order
- Make sure that both you and your cycle are easily visible (day & night)
- Always trust your intuition
