Empty Properties

  • Before entering the property look for key indicators
    • Burnt silver foil
    • Needles/syringes in the garden
    • Other drug taking paraphernalia
  • Enter the property one at a time
  • Watch where you walk
    • Always wear thick soled shoes or boots
  • Touch as few surfaces as possible
  • Inspect everything before you touch it
    • Door handles
    • Bannister rails
    • Any property left by the occupant
  • Open doors & WAIT - Allow time for any traps/ambushes to fall !!! before you enter the room
  • If you enter a property or room which has a 'funny' smell either leave or ventilate the room/property
  • Do not sit on any soft surfaces - Chairs, Beds etc.
  • If you find any suspicious substances DO NOT touch them
  • If you see signs of substance abuse STOP - Leave and secure the property
  • As you leave re trace your steps
  • Call a professional cleaning service to clean the property
